THE ARTHRITIS AND JOINT REPLACEMENT CENTER
At De Los Santos Medical Center’s Arthritis and Joint Replacement Center, we provide diagnostics and nonsurgical treatments, such as pain medications, therapy, and injections to individuals suffering from this lifelong, deliberating disease.
Services offered:
- Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
This medical imaging technique is a cost-effective way of evaluating a patient’s ligaments, tendons, muscles, and bones. In competent hands, a musculoskeletal ultrasound can be as effective as (but much less expensive than) an MRI.
- Polarizing Microscopy
By utilizing our polarizing microscope to analyze fluid from your painful joint, we can accurately identify the crystals that produce gout and other forms of crystal-induced arthritis.
- Aspiration
Arthrocentesis (aspiration) involves withdrawing fluid from the affected joint with a needle. The analysis of the body fluid will check for blood, bacteria, or crystals, which will determine the type of arthritis you may have.
- Infusion
Infusion therapy is prescribed for patients whose conditions do not respond to oral medications. It involves the administration of medication through a needle or catheter and, is applicable for diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus or SLE, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoporosis. We offer biologic intravenous therapies that make use of infliximab, rituximab, and tocilizumab to treat rheumatic diseases.
Other therapies available for infusions include:
- Pulse methylprednisolone therapies
- Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG)
- Cyclophosphamide
- Zoledronic acid
- Injection
Since certain arthritic conditions require injection/s to a particular joint or part of the body, we offer treatments like steroid injection and viscosupplementation (injection of hyaluronic acid). For further precision, we also perform ultrasound-guided injections for hard-to-target structures.
- Pain Management
For those living with chronic pain, we offer pain management, which includes pharmacological measures, interventional procedures, physical therapy, physical exercise, and psychological measures, such as biofeedback and cognitive behavioral therapy.
In case these forms of treatment are not enough to help you cope with arthritis, we also offer the option of having joint replacement surgery to revitalize your hopes and improve your quality of life. In line with the hospital’s commitment to delivering quality but affordable healthcare, we developed comprehensive surgical packages which are within your reach. These packages already include hospitalization, operating room expenses, professional fees, and cost of the artificial joint (implant).
